Turkish Style of “Pattern” For German and Finnish sort of Design
a) maternal disappointments
When I realized that it was impossible to go to Pascal’s workshop, I decided to write something to him -about the concept of it. A kind of letter to the people, from a Turkish guy. Nothing to do in a German-Finnish workshop that is based on “how we pattern”… But being totally from another culture, I have the opportunity observe both dimensions of the cultural aspects of “patterns” and paternal forms of cultures.
Patterns are everywhere, on our walls, on our clothes, on our metro stations and on our ideas. So they also transform themselves into other forms of patterns like dreams, relations, our walking ways to the work/school or our hairstyle. Also you can smell the cultural form of mindshare and the special layers and tools of the ideological machine that you are in through the patterns around you.
b) pre-natal depressions
It is really a coincidence that I had the chance of going out with a half Finnish identity and later with some else from Germany. I can make very sexy comments on how “patterns” are “pattern-alized” in different cultural forms of imagination. Since I am not paid for this (another personal pattern), I am not going to write every detail, but some cues…
- Finnish patterns are more close-ended; I mean both the german and the finnish patterns are aggressive but finnish aggression is more towards itself, is not it?
- German patterns are more interesting in order to adapt and transform into some other forms and ideas; since they are more into/up to outside, others and other possibilities.
- In both types, you can see how the critical elements that makes that patterns special as a differentiated form or a unique idea, and how these elements are designed on a control freak base, but finnish style is more funny.
c) and love.
If you want to look into your own, personal patterns, it is a good starting point to begin with the curtains in your mom’s kitchen. Later, you can look at your boyfriend/girlfriend’s mom’s kitchen. And combine them…
